What’s On at MahlerFest XXXIII

This is the festival that never happened due to COVID-19. We have saved this page for anyone interested in what would have been…

MahlerFest XXXIII “Visions and Visionaries” will culminate in a performance of one of Mahler’s most powerful and groundbreaking works, his Second Symphony.

This extraordinary work anchors a week of discovery and exploration that includes the link between Mahler and Wagner and the creative connections between ear and eye. It includes performances of Act One of Wagner’s Die Walküre, Philip Sawyers’ monumental tone poem Hommage to Kandinsky, and Messiaen’s Quartet for the End of Time. We’ll be exploring the links between music and the visual arts via Kandinsky, the Secession artists who knew Mahler and more.
