Teresa Karcher – mezzo soprano

MahlerFest Fellow, London based German-American-Spanish mezzo soprano Teresa Karcher, trained as a singer at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, London. Much praised for her ‘beguiling, golden tone,’ Teresa has a special affinity with Spanish repertoire both old and new which she has often performed in Spain, most notably at the Auditorio Manuel de Falla of Granada Spain, Ireland, and England. In January 2018 she was invited to record songs by García Lorca and Ovalle at Abbey Road Studios.

This year Teresa made her debut with the English Symphony Orchestra as the alto soloist in Bach’s Magnificat. On the operatic stage Teresa made her debut as Musetta (La Bohème, Puccini) at the Mediterranean Opera Festival, Sicily. Further roles include Iphygénie (Iphygénie en Tauride, Gluck), Ariadne (Ariadne auf Naxos, Strauss), Le Prince Charmant (Cendrillon, Massenet), Leonore (Fidelio, Beethoven) and Fiordiligi (Cosi Fan Tutte, Mozart) among others. Oratorio roles include the alto solos in Bach: Christmas Oratorio, Magnificat, and St. Matthew Passion and Pergolessi: Stabbat Mater.
