“Donor Event: Backstage at Macky”
Thursday, May 18, 2023 | 10:30 AM & 11:30 AM | FREE FOR DONORS
Macky Auditorium, 1595 Pleasant Street, Boulder
Sold Out!
In 1995, the MahlerFest final concert was performed in Macky Auditorium for the first time as the organization needed more space to perform Mahler’s Eighth Symphony, the “Symphony of a Thousand.” Since then, Macky has felt like home to MahlerFest. Not only are many of our performances given there, but audiences have long been welcomed to attend open rehearsals (see this year’s open rehearsal schedule here). The site of a few scattered Mahlerites flipping through their score while the orchestra rehearses brings joy to many board members. So we thought it was time to open up and show you what goes on behind the scenes!
Meet in the inner lobby at 10:30 AM while the orchestra rehearses the Liederabend program. Executive Director Ethan Hecht will introduce you to a Macky staff person who will give you the tour. You will go backstage and even have the opportunity to climb the spiral staircase and see the upper reaches of the hall.
Please note that this tour is not ADA compliant. To our patrons with physical disabilities, we extend our sincere apologies.
