“Visit Mount Mahler” – Drive and Hike
Sunday, August 29, 2021 | 7 AM or 10 AM at the Trailhead
With our first summer festival ending on Saturday night, this was the perfect year to arrange for a trip to visit Mt Mahler. The hike to the top is quite long and technical and we are not planning that kind of trip! We will meet in Boulder and/or Longmont and drive almost three hours to Lake Agnes. Bring a lunch, water, and your hiking shoes. We will picnic and, for those who want to, hike 2.3 miles around the lake. Views of Mt Mahler are promised as long as the clouds or smoke don’t roll in.
Read the story of how the mountain was named after our beloved composer here.
The last stretch of road is not paved. Four wheel drive is not needed but small cars without much clearance probably won’t make it. We are working now on a sign-up system so we know who would like to go and what vehicles are available. There is a $9 state park entrance fee for each vehicle. See more information about the hike here.
Please note, while we are helping to organize who goes on this trip, we are not guiding the trip or the hike and are not providing a hiking guide, first responders, or other medical professionals. Participate at your own risk.
If you would like to go on this trip, please fill out this form by the end of the day on Thursday, August 26. We will do our best to help coordinate transportation based on the responses we receive.
