Mahler in Isolation

A touching video made for the Virtual MahlerFest by cultural historian, Gavin Plumley. Plumley was scheduled to speak throughout this year’s symposium and festival. His film explores the spaces in which Mahler created his gargantuan works including the Second Symphony. Plumley points out that Mahler’s music is perfect for stay-at-home orders as he composed in relative wilderness isolation.
