Jack Barry – Percussion

Jack Barry is a versatile solo, chamber, and orchestral percussionist in the New England area. As a timpanist and percussionist, he has performed with the Billings Symphony, Rhode Island Philharmonic Orchestra, Concord Orchestra, Brookline Symphony Orchestra, and the Ohio Valley Symphony Orchestra. He also held timpani and percussion positions at the National Music Festival, Marrowstone Music Festival, and has performed as Principal Percussion with Colorado Mahlerfest since 2022. Jack performed at Carnegie Hall alongside Denée Benton and the Canadian Brass as a part of the Ohio University Wind Symphony in celebration of the 100th Anniversary of the School of Music.
As a soloist, Jack performed the Concertino for Marimba and Orchestra by Paul Creston as a winner of the Ohio University Concerto Competition. As a member of the Towson University Percussion Ensemble, he performed alongside Eighth Blackbird in a performance of John Luther Adams’ ecological composition Inuksuit at the University of Richmond. At Towson, he was the recipient of the Undergraduate Presser Scholar Award. He holds a Performance Diploma from Boston University, a Master’s in Music from Ohio University, and a Bachelor of Music Magna Cum Laude from Towson University. When he’s not playing music, Jack works as a Librarian at the public library near his home in Middletown, CT.
