Movie: “Estranged Passengers – In Search of Viktor Ullmann”

The Boedecker Theater at the Dairy Arts Center, 2590 Walnut St.
A ticketed showing of the movie about the composer of the opening night opera “Der Kaiser von Atlantis” with an introduction by Ryan Hugh Ross who will lead a conversation after the movie.
Display of Graphic Novels Based on Operas

Dave Maass wrote “Death Strikes: The Emperor of Atlantis,” a graphic novel based on our opening night opera. There are many other graphic novels based on operas. We will display some of them before the opening night performance. Mr. Maass will be on hand to answer any questions.

Ryan Hugh Ross, a specialist in surpressed composers, will introduce this free showing of a movie about the composer of our opening night opera.

Boulder naturalist Suzanne Michot leads a gentle hike and talks about the natural environmentin Boulder while Symposium speaker Kalanit-Liat Chalstrom adds information about Mahler and his connection to nature.
Hammer Time: The Mahler Box
Friday May 16, 3 PM to 4 PM
Mountain View United Methodist Church, 355 Ponca Place
Board Member Jim Hajost will discuss how he built the box and talk about the reseach he did when figuring out what Kenneth Woods wanted out of our hammerschlag. Principal percussionist Jack Barry will talk about playing those famous blows, demonstrate it, and give attendees a chance to try it.
MahlerFest Symposium

Dinners & Other Social Events
One of the things that makes MahlerFest so special is the community we build when Mahlerites come together. Many of our long-time audience members mention this when talking about why they come back to MahlerFest year after year. We have put together a robust schedule of events to help make this possible. See the calendar with all public events here.
Social meals are informal gatherings to which all audience members, guests, musicians, symposium speakers, and board members are invited. We arrange for space at the restaurants, you show up and pay your own way. No reservations required.
