Dr. David Vernon is a writer, academic and lecturer. He studied at Oxford University, before spending time teaching language and literature in China and Japan. After returning to Europe, he completed his doctorate on Shakespeare’s tragicomedies at Freie Universität Berlin, and taught English literature for many years in London.
He has written extensively on music and literature. His first books, Disturbing the Universe: Wagner’s Musikdrama, Beauty and Sadness: Mahler’s 11 Symphonies, and Ada to Zembla: The Novels of Vladimir Nabokov were published to wide acclaim. His next book, out in September 2023, will be on Beethoven’s string quartets. He lives in Edinburgh.
