Zoë Beyers, Concertmaster for MahlerFest XXXII, wowed audiences with her performance of the violin concerto by Erich Wolfgang Korngold. David Korevaar, Distinguished Professor of Piano at the University of Colorado-Boulder’s College of Music, made his MahlerFest debut with Beyers in this performance from May 15, 2018 at the Dairy Arts Center.
Edward Elgar and Gustav Mahler were truly kindred spirits. Both were great composers who became hugely influential public figures and yet somehow remained eternal outsiders. Elgar’s Violin Sonata, one of his last works, comes from the World War I years. It’s music of great beauty and dark passion.

Stacey Rishoi became an instant MahlerFest audience favorite when she performed Das Lied von der Erde with Brennen Guillory at MahlerFest XXXI in 2018. Her rendition of “Der Abschied” from that performance is available here. Both were scheduled to return in 2020, when, had we not been forced to cancel, Rishoi would have performed the role of Sieglinde in Wagner’s Die Walküre as well as singing the mezzo soprano solo part in Symphony No. 2.
Rishoi is joined by pianist Kelly Kuo in this performance recorded specifically for MahlerFest’s 2020 Virtual Fall Mini Festival.
