What’s more glamorous than the movies!
Wear your Hollywood best. Prizes will be given out for best costumes, so channel your inner Lauren Bacall or Humphrey Bogart and take a photo on our red carpet!

Please join us at License #1, 2115 13th Street, under the Hotel Boulderado, after the show.

In light of the venue change and the impending weather, we will not have a post-concert gathering.

Mahler’s music has appeared in countless films over the years, but his most important legacy in his profound influence on cinema is probably to be heard in the film scores of the composers of the following generations from pioneers like Steiner, Waxman and Korngold to modern masters like John Williams who turned to Mahler for inspiration. This program seeks to illuminate the ways in which Mahler’s legacy has been spread through the media of film. The musical selections will be announced from the stage.

What to Expect

Boulder’s Glen Huntington Bandshell has been a fixture in Central Park for 78 years. It is named after the man who designed it and nearby Boulder High School. The art deco aesthetic is a pefect fit for this concert. We will have a banner and red carpet for photos. Please enjoy and please share on social media using #MahlerandtheMovies.

Parking is available throughout downtown on the street and in garages. Please pay attention to the signs as in some cases you need to pay at a kiosk and some are free in the evening. There are also multiple bus routes that go past the venue. We ecnourage you to bike or use public transportation if possible.

The Bandshell is visibile from Broadway, Canyon, and 13th Street so it should be easy to find. Since this is a free event, walk on up and find a seat. There are benches and some areas to sit on the ground or bring a chair. This concert will be tastefully amplified.

Now that the concert is at Mountain View United Methodist, there is a parking lot on the west side of the building and plenty more on the street. We will still have a red carpet and banner to take pictures and will still be giving out prizes for the best costumes.
